Neferia Abel is one of the most consistent fashion designers in SL as far as vision and style, IMO. For those who don’t know, Neferia has two brands…Ivalde is pure vintage and historical styles, and L’Abel is contemporary clothing that usually has a vintage influence. Each brand is included in a featured event this week. For Fashionably Late, Neferia has featured a delicate grey early 1960s-inspired dress called “Joan” (cue obvious Mad Men reference) under the Ivalde label. For Moody Monday, L’Abel features a sweet top and capri set that hints at both country and regency influences (put that bodice on a long dress, and you’d pass for one of the Bennett sisters’ friends). I’m personally thrilled to see Neferia tempering the country influences because I haven’t been as thrilled with the “farmer girl” leanings of her latest L’Abel designs in the Summer Country Chic Collection. Hopefully, this is asign that the brand will be moving, at least a little, away from that.
Matched with these outfits are some high-quality freebies. Run, don’t walk, to Lamb and pick up the two freebie hair fatpacks available for a limited time. The Lindsay Angel Pale skin was a Lucky Board prize at Mambo Chic.

I’m fascinated with clothing and avatar elements in SL which we really don’t replicate in real life. I love being able to change tattoos or go to non-tattooed skin in an instant. I love hair styles that would be nearly impossible to create or sustain IRL. When I saw this dramatic dress in L’Abel‘s new collection, I knew I wanted other dramatic elements to complete the outfit.
The hair is from the current Dressing Room Blue collection, made by LOQ Hairs. It’s not just red, it’s Dana Scully Red (thanks, LOQ…more please). No, it’s not called Dana Scully Red, it’s called Firey Red (my kids are devouring The X-Files on Netflix streaming, so I have X-Files on the brain right now). The name of the hairstyle is Pancake.
The butterfly tattoo is from Wunderlich’s Historical Garb. These face tattoos are only $75L per design and there are several styles to choose from.
The shoes are from Patula’s House, and the skin is from Heartsick, only $60L for Super Bargain Saturday (and it is a super bargain!).
Pose from flowery.
I’m still working my way through the bounty of gifts and promotional priced items that I received during the Christmas season in SL. Needless to say, my inventory is overloaded and needs to get back to some semblance of organization. As I go through and attempt to organize, I’ll try and share some of the highlights.
The Hair and Hat above was a group gift from Truth, called “Snow Kitty” I love how the hair poofs out from under the hat! The sweater is from Bang Bang – an opening giftie for the Oh my Stars! Sim. The pants are from Havana Nights, and the coat from FIR & MNA. The skin is called Camilla and is from Natural Beauty – formerly known as Tik Tok.. The Pose is by !Bang.

So, apparently today is something called “Spirit Day” and everyone is supposed to wear purple in order to call attention to a number of recent suicides occurring in young people who were bullied specifically regarding their sexual orientation. And recently, an event opened in Second Life in support of adding goths to a list of protected groups in hate crimes legislation in the U.K.
Asa you can see, I’m not wearing purple right now. And it’s not because I’m somehow in favor of bullying. Quite the opposite.
People are bullied for so many reasons. Why is it that only some reasons get focused upon? Yes, in both these examples people lost their lives, and that is so very significant.
However, isn’t bullying just wrong…period?
Not only when someone is gay or goth, but….also that time that kids in the first grade figured out one of their classmates was an easy target, and made sure the other kid had no one to play with at recess. Or the department manager that made an intern work unpaid overtime upon threat of losing his job. Or the two middle school kids who realized a classmate was naive about drugs, and decided to have a little “fun.” Or the male coworkers who sexually harassed a barely-out-of-high-school young girl with a curvaceous figure. The executive who manipulated and schemed against fellow employees in order to gain more power for himself. The popular girls who decide to see just how far they can make a classmate go in inappropriate behavior if they hold the bait of friendship over her head. All the times when someone is emotionally battered and bruised but not fully broken…those count, too.
Maybe it’s time to stop highlighting special cases and simply stand up against bullying…period. Don’t tolerate the intolerable, even when no one is “seriously hurt.”
In case anyone is still around after the speech, here’s the outfit credits.

Sorry for the lack of recent posts. I have a little project I’m working on that is taking up most of my time in SL. I’m very excited about it, and I hope to be able to post some more information about it soon.
I did take some time off to do the Seasons Hunt, and it has been a pleasant hunt experience. Very few of the hunt objects were hidden in difficult places (in fact, many of them were extremely obvious).
There was one store (name withheld) that I completely avoided because it is huge and, in a previous hunt, the owner(s)/management made it extremely difficult to find their gift (which IMO ended up not being worth the time everyone had to invest to find it). There were a few others I didn’t do because I knew the gift was something I wasn’t interested in.
Overall, the quality of the items is really good on this hunt. Yes, there are some gimmicky autumn-related things, but mostly the gifts are wearable and usable items, nicely designed, and many qualifying for a permanent spot in your inventory. Special kudos to Ingenue (for a very cute dress) and LISP Bazaar (for a very nice set of two easy chairs with the typical LISP attention to quality and detail). There are others that I should likely mention as well, so let me just add that if you’re thinking of doing a hunt, this is a good one to go for. The aggravation factor is low (with just a few exceptions), and the prizes are more than worth the time you’ll likely put into it. Here’s a link to the official hunt blog.
